For our neighbors in need

share in the joys of giving

Through all of the community collections HOPS did on behalf of different communities in needs, I came to learn three things.

  1. People really wanted to help neighbors in need
  2. Parents really wanted to include their children in serving their community
  3. There were many within our community facing significant hardships that were magnified by COVID

NYC Neighbors In Need

A true highlight were all the efforts HOPS organized for our communities in need.  We collected for local hospitals, families displaced from fires in Jackson Heights and the Bronx, asylum families struggling due to lack of resources from to COVID, families who were devastated by the destruction of their homes from Hurricane Ida and we led sandwich drives to help the hungry in our community.  COVID only highlighted the added hardships these communities were already facing.  We always welcome anyone wanting to join our efforts.

  1. Collections for families in need
  2. Sandwich drives to feed the hungry in Queens

KidsGiving & More

Through our giving initiatives at local street fairs and at our former space, we were inspired in the way kids SHOWED UP!  Even surprising some parents which goes to show, we don’t always give our kids enough credit.   Kids came and opened their hearts for those in need.  So we’ll continue to organize pop-up KidsGiving events like sandwich drives to help lift our community.  These events are intended for the whole family to participate and share in the joys of giving.  Benefits for the kids participating:

  1. Encourages natural giving tendencies in kids
  2.  Increases self-esteem and sense of purpose
  3. Make new friends!
